Musbah Ahmed Dyab

Musbah Ahmed Dyab (مصباح أحمد دياب; also spelled Mosbah Ahmed Diyab) was a Libyan military officer who served as a brigadier general in the armed forces of Muammar Gaddafi during the First Libyan Civil War.

Military career

Dyab was reported to have been a senior commander among Gaddafi loyalist forces during the Battle of Sirte (2011), the final major battle of the First Libyan Civil War. According to local accounts, he was associated with pro-government military units defending Sirte against forces loyal to the National Transitional Council.

Death

Dyab was reportedly killed on 25 September 2011 during the Battle of Sirte when a NATO airstrike struck a house belonging to his family in Sirte. His death was reported by family members, although his presence at the location and the circumstances of his death were not independently confirmed.

The strike also killed several members of the Dyab family. Human Rights Watch documented the incident as part of its investigation into civilian casualties during the NATO air campaign in Libya.
