Muhamudu
Muhamudu was an alleged insurgent commander involved in the Insurgency in Cabo Delgado in Mozambique. According to the Mozambican authorities, he was killed by pro-government forces in an ambush at Limala in southern Mocímboa da Praia District, Cabo Delgado Province, on 6 October 2021.
Alleged activities
Mozambican Police Chief Bernardino Rafael identified the deceased insurgent as Muhamudu. Cabo Ligado reported that the name was presumably a nom de guerre and that Muhamudu was one of two insurgents reportedly killed during an ambush in Limala on 6 October 2021.
Mozambican authorities also attributed responsibility to Muhamudu for the Xitaxi massacre, in which more than 50 young men were reportedly killed in Muidumbe District in 2019. The identification and attribution were made by Mozambican officials and have not been independently established in the available sources.
