Marius Grušas

Marius Grusas is a sculptor currently living and creating in Lithuania. He gained his high school education in National M.K. Ciurlionis Art School in 1981. At the same year he got a place at Vilnius Art Academy. Graduated in 1986 and got an MA degree in Sculpture. His final work is now in one of little courtyards in Vilnius old town in Stikliu Street.

Biography

Since his graduation, Marius has converted an old post-soviet building into a loft studio in Sariai and been working as a sculptor. He created monumental works for public spaces in Lithuania and smaller decorative pieces which participated in a lot of personal as well as collective exhibitions and now belongs to private collectors.

Marius uses a wide range of materials for his artistic creations such as clay, plastic, bronze and stone. Marius Grusas is inspired by pagan tradition which is still persistent in Lithuanian territory. He uses a lot of animal and vegetal motifs which rhythmically interflow into a harmonic piece of work. Since 2001 Marius CREATES dynamic fire sculptures for annual Equinox Event1. He participated in international symposiums in Germany and China, also in a number of international exhibitions. Marius created a four faced sculpture of Svandevit 2 in Kap Arkona in Germany. Marius teaches Fine Art in Švencioniu Art School.
