Ad & Carry
Ad & Carry Support System is a palletized handle design for carrying multiple plastic shopping bag without the discomfort 1 normally associated with this task. Made from recyclable cellulose material the effective physics of this design is building a creative fold pattern into a material for structural support. Next would be a channeling bottleneck effect that forces the bag straps to pass into a locking mechanism. Bags would be trapped in this opening until the user was ready to remove. Thus preventing bags from turning over and groceries spilling out during the car ride home. Nicknamed Ad2Carry or Add & Carry, it offers a solution to the obvious medical side effects that happen from improper use during the lifting and transporting of plastic shopping bags.
Design History
The original predecessor, named Bag Caddie was made from HDPE a dense plastic material. Brand name products such as Ocean Spray Ocean Spray (cooperative) and Ortega 2 made it available for customers to help control and maintain plastic bags. However, manufacturing capabilities and restrictions made it difficult to produce. Designers started working on a viable solution that could be made of a more user and environmental friendly option.
Palletize Design
Looking for a suitable material other than plastics, a unique concept was realized by creating a structural fold with a self-locking design a cellulose material such as cardboard could be used and would support weight and provide a protective barrier that would reduce possible injury.
Preventing Medical Side Effects
