Jay Rosenzweig (Canada)

Jay Rosenzweig is an executive recruiter and non-practicing lawyer. He is well known for his advocacy work regarding the inadequately low numbers of women in corporate leadership roles. Women now represent the majority of the North American workforce and yet hold well below 10 per cent of the top leadership jobs in publicly-traded corporations.

Each January, Jay authors and publishes a report highlighting the need for more gender diversity in the C-level executive corporate suites in Canada’s largest companies. The Rosenzweig Report on Women at the Top Levels of Corporate Canada has received wide appeal and coverage from media; as well as becoming a teaching tool in business schools and required reading for many politicians.

Jay is Managing Partner of Rosenzweig & Company, an executive recruitment and search firm with offices in New York, Toronto and Calgary. He founded Rosenzweig & Company after many years in the search business, beginning in research and progressing to partner-level roles both in boutique and large global search firms. Prior to joining the search industry, Jay was in the field of law, which included exposure to corporate/commercial litigation, criminal defense, and human rights work. As a law student, Jay summered with Irwin Cotler, Canada's former Attorney General and international human rights legal expert who has represented prisoners of conscience including Nelson Mandela, Natan Sharansky and many others.

Jay's background in philosophy and law instilled in him a strong interest in human rights. He recently helped recruit the head of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. In addition, he and his wife Renée play an active role with several health-care-related charities, as well as the United Jewish Appeal Federation, ZAREINU Educational Centre, Migdal Ohr, and Associated Hebrew Schools.

Jay earned a B.A. in Philosophy from McGill University and then went on to graduate from its law school where he obtained both Civil Law (B.C.L.) and Common Law (LL.B.) Degrees through the four-year National Program. He also completed Roger Fisher’s Negotiation Program at Harvard Law School. Jay is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

He is an avid music lover and songwriter, and represents a select number of world-class artists in the music industry. Jay is also a fitness enthusiast who trains with pro boxer Stephan Boyd, and who advocates preventative healthcare techniques through exercise and good nutrition.
