Zheng Zhuqiang

Zheng Zhuqiang (; born January 1960) is a Chinese diplomat and member of the Chinese Communist Party. He previously served as the Ambassador of China to Uganda and as the Ambassador of China to Botswana.

Biography

Zheng began his diplomatic career in 1985 at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Myanmar, then officially known as the Union of Burma Socialist Republic. Between 1985 and 1987, he served as a staff member and attaché at the embassy. From 1987 to 2000, Zheng worked in the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. During this period, he successively served as third secretary, second secretary, deputy division chief, first secretary, and division chief.

From 2000 to 2004, Zheng served as a counsellor at the Embassy of China in Zimbabwe. He subsequently returned to the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as a counsellor from 2004 to 2009 and as deputy director-general from 2009 to 2013. In April 2013, Zheng was appointed Ambassador of China to Botswana. He also served concurrently as China's representative to the Southern African Development Community. He remained in these positions until October 2016. Zheng was appointed Ambassador of China to Uganda in December 2016 and served until May 2021. He was succeeded by Zhang Lizhong.
