Who is Charlie Keeper? is a self-published fantasy novel written by Marcus Alexander with artwork done by Lobak Oren. Who is Charlie Keeper? follows Charlie Keeper's story as she is chased from London into the magical world of Bellania where she encounters a wide range of characters from Nibbler the wise cracking dragon, Bane the Stoman Lord, the Delightful Brothers, Stix and Stones and Sic Boy the evil tempered beast of a dog as she tracks down elusive reasons for her parents abduction and begins her education into magical powers known in this book as Will.

The Corrupt Government Crew and (reputedly) other graffiti artists have painted 'Charlie Keeper' inspired characters in London whether as an act of fan loyalty, vandalism or advertising has not been substantiated outside of youtube videos showing examples of this graffiti and also young individuals performing aerial and gymnastic manoeuvers while reading the novel, giving some credit to the claim that the novel has been read by freerunners who have attempted to imitate the sport 'K'Changa' found in the novel.

Story Synopsis

Who is Charlie Keeper? tells the tale of Charlie, an iron-willed, twelve year old girl suffering an unjust and unhappy fate. Forced to flee her home in the gloomy, rain-drenched landscape of London by a bloodthirsty and terrifying new foe, she escapes to the vibrant, parallel land of Bellania with nothing more than her common sense and razor-sharp wits to keep her safe. Bellania, a land of myth, magic and marauding giants with bad attitude and poor anger management. With the fate of a world resting squarely upon her shoulders Charlie must learn AbOUT her destiny in order to defeat Bane, the Stoman Lord. And even with all the unspeakable betrayals, vicious enemies and terrible odds that are stacked against her, Charlie could probably succeed if only she could learn to keep her big mouth shut and her opinions to herself.

The World of Bellania

Chased from her home in London by Bane and his vicious Shades Charlie Keeper accidentally stumbles into the vibrant and magical land of Bellania, a world secretly lying parallel to our own. Charlie learns that once upon a time Earth and Bellania were part of a whole, but many aeons ago during the time of the Great Cataclysm the two were torn asunder. Now they live on opposite sides of the coin, joined together by a few, carefully hidden paths. Earth remains the sole habitat of Humans, traffic congestion, odd socks, dull politicians and really, really boring rainy days. Whereas Bellania got the better deal, it's where all the legends, myths and rumours went off to live. It's a world where magic still thrives and majestic beasts of wonder can run amok and feel free to trample the unsuspecting to their hearts content. Three races dwell in Bellania: Humans, Tremen and Stomen. And governing over the three races are the Winged Ones, Bellania's true masters and keepers of the peace. For thousands of years Bellania was a peaceful land but now, with the Winged Ones missing, Bane, the Stoman Lord has risen to power and marches across the land with his violently rabid Stoman army. If Bane can move fast enough it is possible that he might raise his bloody flag across the whole of the land before the Winged Ones can return and stop his furious hunger for conquest.

K'Changa

A sport found in Bellania likened to be crossed between capoeira, gymnastics, sepak takraw and 'blended together by a tornado'.

The Will

The form of magic used within Bellania. A secretive group of people known as The Keepers work hand in hand with the Winged Ones to maintain the peace and security of Bellania. Guardians of the secret paths that lead to and from Earth they use their knowledge of the Ways and the might of their Will to keep the balance between the three races. The Will manifests itself as strong gushing flames of golden light that erupt from Keeper's hands which can be used as either a weapon or as a means of increasing ones own power; speed, strength etc.

Graffiti

Images taken by the Corrupt Government Crew and video footage indicate the possibility that "Charlie Keeper and Bellania-inspired graffiti has flourished across London, being photographed and reported in Hendon, Hammersmith, Waterloo, Sheperd's Bush and Fulham." The graffiti crew know as the 'Corrupt Government Crew' have produced many of said images with the use of stencils.
