Bellania
Bellania is the land lying parallel to Earth encountered by Charlie Keeper in the fantasy novel Who is Charlie Keeper? once considered to be a part of Earth it was separated during the events of a Great Cataclysm that ripped the fabric of the world apart. The remnants of the old world, Bellania and Earth survive as larger fragments of a once greater whole and now live side by side connected together only by a few bridges and pathways of which are guarded by a group of people known as 'Keepers', wielders of the magical ability known as the 'Will'.
Bellania is largely inhabitated by three indigenous races, Humans, Tremen, Stomen all of whom are governed over by the 'Winged Ones' who maintain the status quo and peace. Fabled beasts, some of which are remembered in Earth legends still thrive in Bellania and other more ferocious predators such as 'Wyrms' roam the skies. Different types of magic is abundant within the land (although widely dismissed as magic and known as either 'wielding the Will', 'Treesinging', and 'Stonesinging')
Magic
Within Bellania the term 'magic' is a term only used by the unscholared, the use of non-physical forces has been studied and practised until each form is realised as an art form and a science, each is called by its name:
The Will
An ability to wield the sheer force of one's determination, an ability gifted only to those within 'Keeper' bloodlines. Wielding of the Will is manifested by thick, porous, golden light that blazes from the hands ths use of which can be manipulated as a means of attack, defense and to imbue its wielder with great strength. The Will also used by Keepers can force open portals between one geographical destination and another. Instant travel over great distances, this form of the Will is known as 'the Way'.
Treesinging
The Tremen ability to sing to any vegetable matter or flora guiding it into accelerated growth or shapes. Great Treman singers were acknowledged with the shaping of huge towers, bridges and minarets out of living material found with the forest, more humble singers make do with the tending of trees and orchid farms.
Stonesinging
The Stomen ability to sing to any mineral again to control its form. The Stomen race were known for its great architecture and harvesting of crystals. 'Bane, the Western Menace' is reputed to be the greatest of Stonesingers.
The Winged Ones
Missing from Bellania for the past seven years these great entities were known for taking the 'Will' to new heights, transforming it into a power not understood by Bellania's other inhabitants. The Winged Ones used this power to govern the land.
