Sitekick is a segment on YTV.com, the website for YTV. All members "own" a robot called a sitekick. These robots run on Chips, which can be collected, traded, or scavenged throughout the website. There are currently more than 700 Chips available with new ones coming out every month.

Sitekick

Sitekick is the main segment of YTV.com in which all members own a robot called a sitekick. Members find and trade chips which are used to customize their robot just how they like it. There are over 700 chips that members can collect and use with their robots each with their own different functions.

Collection Lists

A Collection list is a list (or series of lists) of chips that is released on the first day of a new month. Members go around and collect these chips and check them off the list to increase their rank. Each collection list has a maximum of 16 chips On It that you can collect (Sometimes less). There are usually some old chips and some new chips on each list. In October 1, 2004 it was made so that you could see 3 months of collection lists (the current month and the 2 previous months), instead of only being able to work on the current months list. As of March 1, 2007 there have been more than one collection list a month. One for the month and another that is usually themed such as Animals For All, which has chips that are related to animals.

Chipendium

The chipendium is an pokedex-like device in which information on chips is given. When you collect a new chip you add it into the chipendium where you can gain information AbOUT it as well as shows the exterior appearance of the chip. The blank spaces are the chips you've never had (or forgot to check off). Information given on the chips includes:

  • Chip name
  • Chip description
  • Picture of the chip (Currently Down)
  • Last release date of the chip

SK-TV

SK-TV is a feature that allows you to look up other sietkicks. You can see their chips, the chips that they have in trades, and their rank. You can also use the 'Search' button to find specific members, by searching letters or the whole username.

Chips

Chips are the things you use to customize your sitekick. There are currently about 700 chips that members can collect and use on their sitekicks. There are several types of chips, each of which has a different type of effect on the resident sitekick. Information on each type of chip is outlined below.

How to Find Chips

There are several ways to find sitekick chips.

One way is to use the "Free Chip Store" section on the sitekick page (not the Dock; it can be reached by just clicking "sitekick" in the navigation bar at the top). Five of the sitekick Saga chips (all except Saturday; see below for more info) are usually in this area. A chip can be picked up there by using the left and right arrow buttons to select a chip and then clicking "Grab this Chip!"

Another way to find chips is to look at the bottom of each page. There is a small section at the bottom left with the Sitekick logo and an "eject" button. If there are chips on that page, the button will be flashing when the member enters the page. The player can then click the button to flip the tray and get any chips in the tray. (There's an exception with the Anime Master and Whoa! Magazine pages: the chips are to be found inside a container to the right of the screen. That type was formerly used on YTV.com's older layout). There are use full threads where yappers discuss chip locations. The most popular of these are is Sirbiggleswerth's and Contraption's.

Besides getting chips from locations, the dump, and trading, members can get chips from codes given out from the hosts of the YTV programming segments The Zone, and CRUNCH, and through a monthly newsletter on the site.

Transformation Chips

Transformation chips change your sitekick in to another object or item. Examples are chips like SKAir that turns your sitekick into an Airplane or Fix_it that turns your sitekick into a tool set. Due to the fact that they can't be equipped with other customizable chips Transformation chips aren’t that popular, but they are still seen from time to time.

Audio Player Chips

There are only 2 audio player chips currently released and it will probably stay that way until the end of Sitekick. They are SuckyPlayer and BigFunPlayer. They are the same except BigFunPlayer plays better quality. These chips are necessary if you want to use an Audio chip (see below)

Audio Chips

Audio chips are music chips that are used in combination with an Audio Player. The songs on these chips are the same songs that have been released on YTV, Big Fun Party Mix CDs. All audio chips have BFPM (Big Fun Party Mix) followed by a letter or series of to indiacte which CD. After the letters there is a number which show the track number. For exapmle BFPM6_05 (Big Fun Party Mix , Track 5). Audio chips range from;

  • Big Fun Party Mix Revolution
  • Big Fun Party Mix 6
  • Big Fun Party Present
  • Big Fun Party Mix 7

Background Chips

Background chips change the regular, default dock background into something more appealing. They are quite popular due to their nice look and because they add nice spice to the sitekick. Some backgrounds only change a part of the background. ie. Blinkies

Face Chips

Face Chips are the most common and most popular chips in sitekick. They can be used in combination with any other face chips to give a desired look. They come in a wide variety of things, from a Monkey face to a Blue LazerBlade.

Game chips

Game chips allow members to play games on their sitekick. Games range from Snakes and Ladders to a Yeti looking to collect Poptarts. A list of game chips:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday
  • Saturday
  • Butterfly
  • ShellOut
  • TeeOff
  • Runner (Doesn't work anymore)
  • Wurm
  • SnakesNLadders
  • Invaders (when it was a chip)
  • Maelstrom (when it was a chip)

Saga Chips/Sitekick Saga

The sitekick Saga consists of 6 playable games within the chips: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday/Sunday and Saturday. These 6 games must be completed (in any order; Saturday must be played last so that finishing all the other games unlocks parts of the Saturday game) to obtain the ability to change the color of their sitekick.

These six chips are in fact the first six classified chips in the Chipendium, a kind of encyclopedia that members fill in and update with information about the chips they have (or had).

As currently believed, in order to complete the saga and get the option to change their sitekick's color, the player must keep all the Saga chips until he/she has completed all 6 games of the saga.Although, Wednesday does not need to be completed to finish the saga.

Only when the color change option is unlocked (it can be accessed under the usually blank Setting menu), players can safely trade any chip in the Saga away.

All Saga chips except Saturday can be obtained through the free chip store.

Sitekick Codes

One of the many ways to get sitekick chips is through sitekick codes. To enter a 'code', there is the Secret Code box at the sitekick Dock. Simply click inside the white box, type the code (Caps doesn't matter) and hit enter. The Enter sign will lift up and your chip will be flashing behind it until you click it.

A Code can be easily guessed at times. For example: SK29EV for ElvisDo. Here is how: SK = Almost always the start of a code, means sitekick. 29 = The Date the code was given away. EV = ElVis.

How To Gain A Code

There are various ways to get codes; the most popular codes are from the YTV Newsletters at the bottom or from YTV's Saturday morning show Crunch where a code might be released by way of the crunchinator.

You can also get codes from Carlos, like when he announced the codes for the Hag chips (HagMug, Haglid, Haggams, Hagcloak) in October 2006, and when he announced the codes for the literally bad chips (Badstache, Badcloak, Badeyes, Badhands).

There is also one other way to get a code: the guest chats. In the TMNT director chat, there were 4 different chips released (HeroMask2, 3, 4 and 5). In the Sugar chat, the chip Starrytopper got released and it was an idea that myshadow7716 mentioned on the boards previous to the chat.

You can also get 2 codes by playing the game Kablooey Flewy Throughy (the chips you get from the code are FlewyTwirlys and FlewyCave)

YTV Forums

The Forums of Boards as they are also called are a place where members can post their thoughts, questions, suggestions and ideas directed at YTV emploies or other members. The boards are also used as gatherings for clubs and the site for contests. There are a wide variety of different board categories to post in, the most popular being the Sitekick boards. The Sitekick boards consists of; Trading, Help, Ask Dr_frantic, Chipendium, Glitch Report and General. Also newly added are the Sitekick news and Mad Propz boards. There is also A News Reportes board which can only be accessed while logged in as Gum12, Ryuyasha11, Robeyblade, Elina or Expoz. For more on the reporters see below. The most active poster on the boards in General are Metalmadness and Robeyblade.

Sitekick Reporters

On the "Sitekick News" boards moderators held a contest during May, 2007 for members who wished to compete for special privileges on the boards and for the ability to post topics on the "Sitekick News" boards. The members were asked to nominate candidates for moderator selection. Ten members were selected to participate in a secondary test: write a report on a given subject and post it for all to see. Members voted for which report they thought was the best. The five members with the most votes were promoted to "Sitekick Reporter" status, a status in which one can access a secret board, and report news on YTV.com for every member to read. These members have a stronger ability to consult with moderators than other members because of their exclusive board for reporters only. Some of these reporters are known as:

  • Robeyblade
  • Elina
  • Ryuyasha11
  • Gum12
  • Expoz (Who has quit sitekick and will be de-moted)

Sitekick Teams

Many a time have members created "teams" (also called clubs or clans) that help bring groups of members together to achieve common goals such as locating chips, cracking codes, helping other yappers, organizing events for all to enjoy, or just to have fun. Many different groups have been created on the boards since the boards began each with their own creative names. A lot of clubs have died off and only a few remain active and current.

Help Centers

There in sitekick the users or "yappers" can go to the help forum and go into "Help Centers". These help centers are there to help users with problems such as where to get chips, where the location of chips are, how to beat the sitekick saga, how to make certain chips, and the description of some chips that no one has collected in their Chipendium. The most successful help centre right now is Ramiro's help centre, next is Expoz', it's the oldest and has the most replies so far.

Elimination Contests

On the sitekick boards, there are many yappers posting new topics, usually about new theories, clubs, or elimination contests. Elimination contests are very popular but only few are successful. They usually have 10 - 40 yappers, all starting with around 10 - 20 points (in most cases). Then, once a day, yappers can vote somebody to gain a point ('in') and somebody to lose a point ('out'). "Twists" are often incorporated in the contest to make yappers lose or gain points.

SiteKick Grudge

Sitekick Grudge was a contest that was started by member myshadow7716. It has been call the most successful elimination contest and has received great comments from other members and contestants. It was well received and won by Blade4 with runner up being Frogdude. At one time the official contest topic for Grudge 1 was the largest topic in all of the YAP! boards but has been surpassed by other topics since its end and shut down.

Grudge 2 began on October 22, 2006. It has fared well, however myshadow's absence from the YTV boards while the contest was running took its toll on the elimination and voting slowed down. The elimination lasted for over a year and only ended with a bold move from contestant Jchansfan. In the end Jchansfan and Bookblade19 tied, but myshadow is trying to think of a way to break the tie.

Grudge 3 is planned to make an appearance as a combination with another great Yap! contest. myshadow and the co-host are currently working out the rest of the bugs for this game of the year. The co-host has been rumored to be Robeyblade, but only myshadow and the co-host know for sure.

Design A Chip Event (DACE)

This event is where other sitekick members can submit designs to YTV. Only a few lucky designs will acatually make it into the top. The original Design A Chip Event only have 50 finalists. The new Design A Chip Event now has 110 finalists. The chips that are submitted are rated on a scale of 1-10 The top 10 chips will be made into real chips by Dr. Frantic. It is also referred to as DACE or D.A.C.E.

Member Influence

Throughout the years, YTV has listened to what YTV members have suggested as to ways of how they can improve their virtual game. Board influence was the very first method as members (known as yappers on the message boards) would give suggestions. Dr. Frantic, the head of the sitekick project would come and read yappers suggestions and would usually post a comment in the first early years of the sitekick project.

Also, there have been contests in which members can submit chip ideas to Dr. Frantic. The first of these contests were held in YTV's own magazine, of Issue 24 (Summer 2005) on page 22, there was a sitekick template and anyone with the magazine could draw overtop with an idea of their own to add to the robot.

The second create a chip event finished recently, members could submit their ideas to YTV through e-mail or post-mail until January 17 2007. From the thousands of submissions, about 100 entries were posted onto the contests page and members couldv rate them from 0-9.

The third create a chip is currently underway with submission being sent in until July 31 2007. The Top 100 chips will be posted on ytv.com over the next few days when they will be rated by the yappers.

Other methods of members getting their chip ideas being turned real is through the message boards when very rarely, Dr. Frantic will visit.
