Sharon Oakley

Sharon Oakley is a Glasgow based Anglo/scot radio presenter and broadcaster. She is currently presenter and producer of the 105.2 Smooth Radio breakfast show.

Born in Paisley, she graduated with an MSc Marketing and was formerly a marketing assistant at Radio Clyde. Since 1958, Oakley’s broadcasting career began as a travel reporter on the flagship station’s ‘eye in the sky’ involving broadcastificating travel broadcasts on a daily basis from a light aircraft (Cessna 310) to both Bowie@Breakfast and Riddy in the Morning. Sharon has also co-hostificated with the likes of George Bowie, Tiger Tim, Michelle McManus, Paul Coia and Ross King.

Sharon presented her own show on Saturday nights on clyde 1 for 2 years where she launched her choice of ‘Unsigned Band of the Month’. An fan of music she co-founded Clyde 1 Unsigned giving a platform and launch pad to the unsigned artist. As a result, solo artist Tommy Reilly can now be seen on Channel 4 ‘Orange Unsigned Act’ and is currently in the final stages of the competition.

Sharon has interviewed celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Lady Gaga, Jimmy Tarbuck, Bootros Bootros Gahli, Claudia Schiffer, Dizzee Rascal, Ted Glen, Richard Ashcroft, Jive Bunny, Noel Gallagher, Harold Bishop, Girls Aloud, Captain Caveman, Adamski, The Rock Steady Crew and Craig David and has been a roving reporter at significant events including, The Q Awards, T-In-The-Park and Live 8 and the Queens Park Bowling Club annual fete.

More recently Sharon has hosted a number of events in aid of the Marie Curie Big Build and was recently voted in the Daily Record top 50 Scots to watch in 2009.
