Affiliate link formats
Post Affiliate Pro supports multiple formats of affiliate links:
- Redirect links (e.g. www.example.com/affiliate/scripts/click.php?a_aid=refid&a_bid=73d672s1) - Old style link, not a great option for SEO, but effective way how to track visitors between multiple domains, hide destination URL and control the traffic coming through specific affiliate link
- New style links (e.g. www.example.com/?a_aid=refid&a_bid=73d672s1) - Affiliate id stored as parameter in the destination url. Very common link type used by majority of affiliate programs. Low SEO impact, because each link looks like unique URL pointing to the same content.
- Anchor links (e.g. www.example.com/#a_aid=refid&a_bid=73d672s1) - Affiliate parameters are stored in the anchor section of the destination link. The best way how to boost SEO with affiliate links because each affiliate link is for the search engine the same (anchor is not evaluated as different link) and pointing to the same content.
- Mod Rewrite links (e.g. www.example.com/refid/73d672s1.htm) - Affiliate parameters stored as a part or URL path. Low impact on SEO, because each URL is unique, but pointing to the same content of destination URL.
- Direct links (e.g. www.example.com) - Tracked by referrer. Destination URL doesn't contain any sign of affiliate link. Not possible to use it from offline content or email campaigns. The best SEO impact for tracking clicks referred from affiliate's website.
