Merchants (video game)

Merchants is a graphic adventure game created by Gamelearn played to learn how to negotiate. Merchants g-learning methodology combines: game-based learning, gamification techniques, and simulation, comprising a complete course contents.

Together with Triskelion, Merchants is one of The Two games developed by Gamelearn for soft skills training.

Description

In Merchants players travel to 15th century Venice and immerse themselves in a competition to grow a maritime trading company, with the goal of being the most successful merchant. Users learn to negotiate and as they build financial resources, are able to purchase ships, establish trade routes, and deal in valuable commodities. Negotiations involve business partners, customers and employees; the player obtains information from the other party, CREATES complex proposals, makes offers and evaluates counteroffers.

Throughout Merchants, a player uses his/her intelligence and creativity to shape win-win agreements. At the heart of Merchants is a complex negotiation simulator. The simulator offers ongoing and fully personalized feedback. The feedback allows players to learn based on their own decisions, strategies and mistakes.

Merchants consists of nine animated lessons running around six minutes each, where key instructive points on negotiation are conveyed. Mastery of these lessons is required in order to RESOLVE aspects of the negotiations and, therefore, ProgresS in the game. Players receive scores based on their performance and compete with their colleagues throughout the course.
