Maratha Light Infantry, 14th. Regiment
The 14th battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry regiment of The INDIAN Army was raised by the British on 1st February 1941. After the end of the Second World War, however; it was disembodied. Thereafter, the battalion was re-raised at Belgaum on 01 June 1971, a few months prior to it's induction into the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The troop composition of the Battalion is pure Marathas (96%) from Maharashtra and parts of Karnataka state (India).
