Canton of Readstan

The Canton of Readstan is a the second canton created within the Barony of Caerthe. A part of the Society for Creative Anachronism and within the Kingdom of the Outlands, Readstan recently moved from Incipient status to full group status. In general geography the borders are highway 285 to the North, I-25 to the East, the foothills to the West, and Mounument Pass to the South.

Readstan covers the Colorado zip codes of 80104, 80109, 8011080111, 80112, 80113, 80118, 80120, 80121, 80122, 80123, 80124, 80125, 80126, 80127, 80128, 80129, 80130, 80131, 80135, 80150, 80151, 80155.

History

Late 2003/Early 2004: Members of Caerthe, in the Southern part of the barony, begin to talk AbOUT the formation of a canton.
May 2004: It was found that there was enough interest to form two cantons. One being the South metro area (known now as Readstan) and the East metro area (known now as Ravenhyrst).
May 23, 2004: First meeting of the proposed canton.
August 2004: The proposed canton decides on the name Bloodstone Keep (first choice), Readstan (second choice), and Beresford (third choice).
September, 2004: Poling to decided if the canton should be formed.
November 2004: Bloodstone Keep (still pending College of Arms approval) is granted Incipient status.
May 2005: First event - Mountain Mayhem
June 2005: First demo of the canton
October 2005: Second event - Bloodstone Keep Pas d'Armes
December 2005: Bloodstone Keep rejected by the College of Heralds.
January 2006: The Incipient canton chooses Readstan as the new name.
April 2006: Mountain Mayhem II
September 2006: Pas d'Armes II
April 2007: Mountain Mayhem III
July 2007: The name Readstan passed the College of Heralds.
October 2007: Pas d'Armes / Readstan is granted full status.

Activities

Readstan is well known for its participation in Heavy Weapons Combat but its members are also very ACTIVE in the Arts & Sciences and service aspects of the society.

Awards

As a canton, Readstan has no awards. It does however have a Patron of Readstan. The patron is chosen yearly at Readstan's spring event, Mountain Mayhem as the one person who has best supported the canton.
