Ian Murphy (fighter)
Ian Murphy (born June 14, 1985 in Corona, California) and is a American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.
Biography
Ian attended Santiago High School and wrestled varsity all four years under Brian O'hara. After graduating he enrolled in Cal State Fullerton, he graduated with a degree in Business Finance. Ian won many awards in college wrestling, including a University Nationals Wrestling Championship. Ian grappled in Lucerne, Switzerland December 2008 and placed 2nd in the world in the No-Gi Competition, with his only loss to team mate Raphael Davis. Ian also competed in the Gi Competition and won the Gi Grappling World Championship, finishing second to none.

Ian served as a replacement for Frank Trigg in the Dream 2 Middleweight Grand Prix 2008 Opening Round. The fight was Ian's mixed martial arts debut. Ian lost the fight to Ronaldo Souza via rear [...] choke in the first round.

On March 12, 2009, Ian fought Chris Valasquez at Carnage at the Creek 5. Ian won the fight in the first round after knocking out Valasquez.
