Hakki Subentekin was born in Istanbul,1980. He is graduated from St.Francis College,Communication Arts&Film Dept,in Brooklyn, NY. Hakki Subentekin is award winning filmmaker and producer originally from Turkey and living in New York City. Subentekin's film "Alicia" (2009) won the Best Domestic Short Film Award at the 7 th Queens International Film Festival. His previous film, Rising Sun (2007) also won the Best Short film Award at the Kent Film Festival in Connecticut. In his films the most important element is sensitivity and character's naturalism. In both films Rising Sun and Alicia, he focuses on voiceless people's stories. Hisnew cinematic visioncreates the story in a different perspective that no one brought to the Independent Cinema before. His cinema is one of the form of character's dramaturgy which let us to comprehend the story by character. Hakki Subentekin is also afounder of New York Eurasian Film Festival''' which will be opening in October 2010 in New York City.
