Metal Temple
Metal Temple is a heavy metal and hard rock music online magazine with most of its staff based in Greece.
History
In November of 2000, web designer John Mitsakos was contacted by the Greek members of the german e-zine Sweet-Suffering.de to help ReDeSign the site. It was later decided by them, that an entire new site should be created from the beginning, using all the crew based in Greece. The name was set to Metal Temple and the site was launched on December of 2000.
In the original crew of chief editor Aris Stremmenos and editors Manolis Moundrianakis, Makis Kirkos, Stathis Giannakopoulos and web master John Mitsakos, a few more were added in the following months that helped shape the magazine's final form. Most notably Dimitra Zertopouli's humorous way of delivering the news reports with her personal remarks, brought the first faithful readers and attention to the magazine.
Orpheus Spiliotopoulos joined the magazine as an editor in the summer of 2001 and became the longest running chief editor soon after, at which point the magazine expanded to include foreign editors. Grigoris Chronis, one of the magazine's largest contributors and current content manager was recruited in 2002.
The magazine was closed for almost a year in 2003, due to obligations of most of its editors and it was close to coming to a halt.
Web statistics showed that instead of losing traffic over that year, it had in fact grown due to the base of archived articles, so it was decided by the remaining crew, web master John Mitsakos, chief editor Orpheus Spiliotopoulos and Grigoris Chronis to be redesigned and launched anew with newly recruited crew and a few members of the past crew.
The magazine grew bigger, sponsoring live shows and providing news, InterViews, reviews and live reports from all over the world.
Elina Papadoyianni joined in 2006 as an editor and took over as current owner and chief editor of the magazine after Orpheus Spiliotopoulos had to quit after 6 years of service.
In 2010 the magazine was redesigned by its original web master John Mitsakos and Elina Papadoyianni and became compliant to the Web 2.0 platform.
