Darren Meenan
Darren Meenan, (born November 16 1986 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland), is an Irish footballer, who is currently unattached. Meenan is a versatile left-footed player equally comfortable playing as a midfielder or as a striker. He is a former Northern Ireland Under 21 international.
Career
Meenan rose through the Dublin schoolboy ranks most notably at St. Joseph's Boys before his step up to senior football with Finn Harps in 2006. He made an instant impression with the Donegal club before his subsequent move to First Division rivals Monaghan United for the 2007 season. Dublin born Meenan was called up to Northern Ireland's Under 21 sqaud during this period, qualifying for eligibility as his father Terence is from Derry. Meenan continued to impress for the Mons through to the 2008 season and he was rewarded with a move to Premier Division football with UCD mid-way through the season. He became a regular in the Students squad but suffered relegation back to the First Division with UCD at the end of the 2008 season. Meenan departed UCD at the end of 2008 to join Shelbourne on December 23 2008. He made his Shelbourne debut on April 3 2009 as a second-half substitute during a 1-0 victory over Mervue United at Terryland Park. Meenan abruptly departed Shelbourne in May 2009. He made 4 league and cup appearances for the Tolka Park club during his 5 month spell.
