After a season as part of Derry's Under 21 squad, Davitt and joined local rivals Finn Harps in February 2006 where he became a regular member of Harps' First Division squad. After numerous impressive performances with Finn Harps, Walsh was snapped up by Bohemians signing for the Dublin club in January 2007 but was soon loaned to Dublin rivals Shelbourne in February 2007 who were in dire need of players.
