Cecilia I. Martinez

Cecilia I. Martinez is the Executive Director of the The Reform Institute.

Since January 2003, Cecilia Martinez has served as the Executive Director of The Reform Institute a nonprofit educational organization based in Alexandria, Virginia that represents a unique, independent voice working to strengthen the foundations of our democracy and build a resilient society. Ms. Martinez also serves as the Vice President of Guerin Inc., a professional services firm, created in 2003, that provides political campaigns, nonprofits, and corporate businesses with strategic planning and message development, state and federal government relations, fund-raising, event planning and management, grassroots coalition-building (including Latino constituencies), Spanish-language media support, and public policy expertise.

Ms. Martinez has testified before the US House of Representatives Committee on House Administration and has appeared on national television news programs including ABC’s 20/20, MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson Show, NOW with Bill Moyers, and the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. She has been quoted in national news outlets including TIME magazine, US News and World Report magazine, National Public Radio, and the Associated Press.

Ms. Martinez is active in Latino advocacy groups and Republican politics. She proudly served on Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign in the early primaries, at the Republican National Convention, and in the general election. She has also worked on campaigns for state initiatives and candidates seeking state & local office, as well as international elections.

From 2000-2002, Ms. Martinez served as Executive Director of the Clean Elections Institute (CEI) in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to her work at CEI, Ms. Martinez coordinated the Southwest Policy Leaders Forum at the Center for Policy Alternatives in Washington, D.C.. She also served on the staff for the Colorado General Assembly, while achieving a Master of Art in political science from Colorado State University. Cecilia also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a Graduate Certificate in women's studies from Colorado State University.
