Plot
The movie begins, with four teenage high-school hockey players from Minnesota being chased down by the girl's hockey team. Earlier, 16-year-old Kendall Knight (Kendall Schmidt) suggest that they pull a prank on the girl's hockey team. 16-year-old Carlos Garcia (Carlos Pena Jr.) attempts to pull the prank but was not strong enough. Eventually 16-year-old James Diamond (James Maslow) agrees to help Kendall and Carlos. 16-year-old Logan Mitchell (Logan Henderson) helps to which makes the four boys powerful enough to get the prank done, which is turning on the sprinkler valve to spray the girls hockey team. Ending with them being chased down by the soaked, angry hockey girls into a dead-end alley and being beat up by them.
Meanwhile, hit record producer, Gustavo Rocque (Stephen Kramer Glickman) is holding a local auditions at the movie theater in Minnesota looking for his new hit pop-star. While nursing their wounds with ice-packs on the couch, watching the [...] Cat Dolls, the guys learn AbOUT Gustavo's auditions and try to get a hold of their respective moms to get them to drive them before five o'clock. When only Carlos's phone rings (only for it to be a woman wanting an estimate on illuminum ciding) The guys get their elder neighbor to come with them and use her car and have Logan drive them to the audition (Logan can only drive with an adult in the car) James and the rest of the guys run up to the talent agent, Kelly just in time before the clock hits five. Everybody is forced to audition by Kelly, Gustavo's talent scout. During the audition, Logan beatboxes, Carlos farts, James sings but a fight starts between Kendall and Gustavo when he told James he has no talent. Kendall sings in a mock-tone of Gustavo's once-boy band, "BoyQuake"'s song 'Girl to my Heart' which Kendall starts to sing since Gustavo told James that when he sing he didn't make him fall off his chair, which leads then to a fight with the two security guards with James jumping on top of them from the stage and Carlos joining in once Logan told him how much trouble he could get in. Ending with Logan joining after proclaiming "I've gotta get new friends" and then the old neighbor joining up.
The police ends up bringing the boys home. Mrs. Knight (Challen Cates) grounds them all, including Carlos, James, and Logan. Asking for an explanation, the boys tell her and Mrs. Knight simply replies with "Okay" and offers the boys sandwiches. Little sister, Katie (Ciara Bravo), asks the boys to hear the 'The Giant Turd Song'. The boys sings "Oh, you're such a turd, oh yeah, a giant turd, and you look like a turd, and you smell like a turd" until Gustavo Rocque comes to the door and asks if Kendall wants to be his new hit pop-star.
Kendall is asked if he wants to fly to L.A. with Gustavo and make some demos but Kendall doesn't accept the offer because he thinks it isn't worth leaving his friends in Minnesota.
The next day, Kendall is bugged by the guys to accept the offer. Carlos proclaiming about the sun and the beach! But most of all the girls! But Kendall proclaims that it isnt worth it without his best friends. Finally, they convince him to call Gustavo. Gustavo shows up, telling Kendall he will come with him to L.A. and make him a star. Kendall responds with a "Fine. I'll go to L.A. and cut some demos with you...If you take my buds and make us a singing group." Gustaavo, at first laughs at the idea, but when Kendall replies "Okay, so we have deal." Gustavo simply replies with "Yep" and the next day they all fly out to L.A.
The guys ride in a limousine to the Palm Woods and meet lots of people like Guitar Dude, Camille, Tyler, the Jennifers, and Lightning the Wonder Dog. The boys also find out about The Famous Palm Woods pool.
