The history of persecution by Muslims spans the 1400 year history of Islam starting with Muhammad’s rise to power in Medina and continuing with the conquest of lands that were formerly Christian, Zoroastrian, or Hindu. The Islamic dictum that commands toleration of religious minorities, specifically for “people of the book,” provided limits to persecution. Contemporary treatment of minority populations in Islamic nations provides examples of persecution by governments and non-governmental agents.
Persecution of Jews
Persecution of Jews begins at the founding of the religion when Muhammad expelled and killed the Jewish tribes of Medina. In the preceding centuries Jews were allowed second-class dhimmi status as “people of the book” with limited persecution aside from isolated exceptions. Severe persecution increased in the 19th and 20th century ending with the Jews fleeing Muslim lands in the 1950s.
Persecution of Christians
Christians living under Islamic rule were also covered by dhimmi law. Those living in non-Muslims lands were not protected people. For example, from the 16th to 19th century, Muslim pirates based in the Mediterranean captured and enslaved an estimated 800,000 to 1.25 million people from Christian Europe.
Persecution of Zoroastrians
In the first century after the Arab conquest of Persia, Zoroastrians were tolerated as “people of the book." Many choose to convert to Islam; some fled to India (see Parsi). Of those remaining Zoroastrian, persecutions led to secretive practices which lead to suspicion and more persecution.
Persecution of Hindus
Persecution of Buddhists
Buddhism as a separate and distinct religion had become a minor presence in India at the time of the Islamic conquests at the end of the tenth century; Invading Islamic forces plundered the surviving monasteries and eradicated Buddhism from the land of its birth. Contemporary persecution of Buddhists occurs in isolated locations within Southern Asia.
Persecution of Bahá'ís
The persecution of Bahá'ís is particularly harsh in Iran. It has existed since the religion’s founding but has increased significantly since the Islamic revolution.

Rotting Flesh Radio is a Wisconsin based weekly podcast dedicated to the Haunted Attraction Industry hosted by Jonathan Johnson, also known as The Mortician. The weekly show covers current industry news within the Haunted Attractions/Dark Rides Industry focusing on events, props, how-to, conventions, tradeshows and haunted attractions. Rotting Flesh Radio also invites industry veterans and horror icons on the show to give their insights.
The show also incorporates listener feedback and offers prize giveaways.
In 2007 it received the Ghoulish Gallery's Isabella Awards for promoting the haunted attraction industry in a positive way.
History
The program started on October 7, 2005. When it began, otting Flesh Radio was the first podcast for the haunted attraction industry.
2005-2006:
For the first 4 months, Rotting Flesh Radio was 35 to 40 minutes a week keeping the shows very simple with key interviews and industry news updates. As the show proved itself to be a viable source for the industry, longer shows asked for by its listeners. In March 2006 the first 80 minute show debuted with the first contest having a sponsored weekly giveaway, this sponsor being a vendor of props. Starting in April 2006, the show began to debut new additions to the show other than the host, Jonathan. Haunted Einstein was a featured "tips and tricks" segment hosted by Ron and Jon, and a DVD release and review segment was also introduced by The Doctor and Nurse Raven (Wayne and Kathy). With the addition of added hosts to the show the show maintained a steady 79 to 80 minute show every week continuing with its main focus on haunted house industry related news and featured interviews from industry professionals being the primary listened to segment.
2007:
In January 2007 it started to change the shows length based on information for that week. It was decided by its listeners in a poll that with mp3 players the show could exceed the previous 80 minute show limit. In February 2007 they added additional segments to the show with new voices and on-air personalities such as "Ask Granny".
July 2007 offered the first time a contest would be held to decide who would be the next on-air personality to the show. The results were Andrew, and his segment "The Chainsaw Buffet".
Haunted Einstein officially left Rotting Flesh Radio in show v.2.43 No.74 in 2006.
The Doctor and Nurse Raven officially left the show in March 2007.
Rotting Flesh Radio covered its first convention officially in March 2006 at Transworld's International Halloween, Costume, and Party Show. This was also the first time it was asked to be an official media sponsor and offer coverage of an event. This trend would continue in the haunted house industry for the show. In 2007 they were the official media sponsor for the Midwest Haunters Convention, Transworld's International Halloween, Costume, and Party Show, and HAuNTcon. the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Convention.
Beginning in 2007, Rotting Flesh Radio began branching out into merchandise offering their own "Hot Sauce" and creating its own clothing line called "RFR Brand". It also created a social network for the haunted house industry under the name Haunt Universe. The show upgraded to a flash chat version of its live chat room, the Chat Graveyard, eliminating its previous JavaScript version used since 2005.
Since then, Rotting Flesh Radio has grown tremendously with a cast known as the "Casket Crew," which serves to entertain and discuss all different subjects of the haunt industry. The "Casket Crew" consisted of Drew Badger (considered by many in the haunt industry as "The Voice" of the show for his tremendous amount of convention coverage), Jason F. Storm, "The Unknown Scare Actor", Katie Lane, Lauren "Sassy-Pants" Lobowsky, "The Haunt Rocker" Jerry Vayne, Gruesome Joe, and a few others. Spreading internationally, they have recruited Casket Crew member 'Angst Geber,' or Mike, a haunter who has traveled across Europe to tour all things horror and relay the tales to the listeners of RFR.
As of October 2012, RFR has been MIA for over a year with several broken promises to return. The former Casket Crew have moved on to other projects
