XOFTspy Portable Anti-Spyware

XOFTspy Portable Anti-Spyware is a proprietary application developed by ParetoLogic Inc. for Microsoft Windows computers. The portable anti-spyware solution is designed to protect roaming users from malicious threats. “ParetoLogic Inc. has become the first vendor to offer an antispyware tool for use from portable U3 USB drives” While the software is not free the user can scan and clean multiple computers using one license. The portable application also protects the USB flash drive which is useful for those who carry USB flash drives from home to work.

Detection and removal of items includes spyware, adware, Trojan horse threats, malware, keyloggers, pop-up generators, and browser hijackers. XOFTspy takes up 8.1 MB of space on the U3 device and uses the same spyware definition database as other ParetoLogic product offerings XoftSpySE and ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware. As of November 2007 there were 230,000 malware definition items in the database and new updates occur once per week to provide relief from the most recent malware variants. The user can create a backup and has the option to restore.

Portability can be useful in situations where a computer is heavily infected, bogged down, or sluggish. By accessing the computer directly from a U3 device, XOFTspy is able to remove malware items regardless if the computer is infected.

XOFTspy Portable Anti-Spyware is compatible with Windows 2000 and XP but is not currently Windows Vista ready.
