Wolvix is a desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Slackware, mainly targeted at home users and strives to provide a balance between everyday computing tasks, creativity, work and enjoyment. It features the Xfce desktop environment, along with a wide selection of development, graphics, multimedia, network and office applications.

Goals

Some of The Primary design goals of Wolvix are:

  • The look and feel of Wolvix should be unified, clean and pleasant.
  • Software should work out-of-the-box as much as possible and should be ready to use as it is.

Features

Wolvix is based on Slackware, and uses the Xfce desktop environment. It only includes GTK+ applications, and utilizes slapt-get for package management. The developers claim acceptable performance can be achieved on a machine running a running a 700 MHz CPU with 256 MB of RAM.
