University of Calgary Baja Team
The UofC Mini Baja Team is an engineering student team based out of the University of Calgary, in Calgary Alberta Canada. The objective of the team is to design and build a vehicle, and compete in the Baja SAE Collegiate Design Series.
History
The UofC Mini Baja Team was founded in 2002 at the Schulich School of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department.
2003
The Winning Team
Car 81 competed in the Mid West endurance competition. 122 competed. The car placed 24th in the race, and 34th overall.
Super Happy Magic Rainbow of Death
Car 85 also competed in the Mid West Competition. The car placed 63rd in the race, 2nd in production cost, 3rd in originality, and 85th overall.
2004
Raging Herd of Dinosaurs on Fire
Car 105 competed in the Mid West competition, where it did not qualify for the race, and placed 75th overall. This competition was an endurance competition.
Magic Bus of Death
Car 104 also competed in the Mid West competition. It placed 18th in the race, and 42nd overall.
2005
Bus of Death
The 2005 car competed in 2 events. The first was the Mid West Competition, in which they placed 14th in the endurance race, and 26th overall, out of 142 competitors. The second competition it competed in was the MiniBaja 100. It placed 50th overall, and 33rd in the race. There were 131 cars competing in this event.
2006
Rocky Mountain Roller Coaster
The car built in this year did not compete in any competition.
2007
Bus of Death Resurrection
This team was composed of 4th year engineering students. They were building the car to receive credit for a 4th year class.
Alberta Beef
This team was composed of students who were building the car for extracurricular purposes.
2008
Sr. Team
This team was composed of 4th year engineering students. They were building the car to receive credit for a 4th year class.
The Dragon of Gilga“mech”
This team attempted to compete in the first water competition for the UofC Mini Baja Team. They failed to complete the car in time, and did not compete in the event.
2009
Alberta Beef's Golf Cart of Death
This team is composed of 4th year mechanical engineering students, attempting to receive credit for class. They are planning on competing in an event at the end of April.
BeelzeBaja
This is an extracurricular team, planning to compete in mid-June in Wisconsin.
