In June 2025, Univers and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) relating to AI-driven decarbonization and energy efficiency. The parties announced plans to establish a Net Zero Center of Excellence in Kuching, described in local news as the first such center in Malaysia, with proposed work covering digital strategy, research, and pilot projects.
In October 2025, Univers launched the Global Impact AI Lab in Singapore with Microsoft, AMD, and the National University of Singapore as partners, with support from the Infocomm Media Development Authority. The lab was intended to serve as a test bed for AI projects in energy, infrastructure, transport, logistics, and manufacturing.
Platform for Physical AI
Univers described its main software offering as the Platform for Physical AI. According to the company, the platform combined data from physical assets and operational systems with AI models to represent relationships among equipment, energy flows, operational constraints, and business objectives. It is intended to support monitoring, forecasting, recommended actions, and controlled automation in operational environments.
In energy-related deployments by Singapore government agencies, Univers software has been used to coordinate distributed energy resources, forecast electricity demand, and schedule battery storage. Other cited applications include monitoring renewable-energy and battery storage assets, managing Building Energy use, and collecting operational data for carbon accounting.
AMD-powered AI Box
In January 2026, Univers and AMD introduced an AI Box at CES. Univers described it as a compact edge device built around an AMD Ryzen AI Embedded processor with an integrated neural processing unit. The company said the device was designed to run AI inference and industrial IoT applications on-site, including energy management, equipment diagnostics, and retail analytics workloads.
Singapore
Univers is headquartered in Singapore, where it operates research and innovation activities and has participated in projects involving energy infrastructure, transport, and applied AI.
Energy and smart grid infrastructure
In November 2024, JTC appointed a consortium of Univers and electricity reteailer PacificLight to design, build and operate Singapore's first district-level smart grid at Punggol Digital District. JTC said the project would integrate solar generation and battery storage, with Univers providing the central energy management software.
Univers has worked with SP Group on a virtual power plant platform, following a proof-of-concept demonstration in 2025. Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding to refine and pilot the platform within the Energy Market Authority's regulatory sandbox.
Univers supported Sembcorp's 285-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system on Jurong Island.
Transport and maritime operations
At PSA Corporation’s Pasir Panjang Terminal, a consortium led by Univers developed a smart grid management system incorporating solar panels and a 2-megawatt/2-megawatt-hour battery. The Energy Market Authority said the system used machine learning to forecast the terminal’s energy demand and schedule battery use, with the potential to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions from port operations.
In October 2023, the Energy Market Authority announced that a consortium led by Univers had deployed Southeast Asia’s first floating and stacked energy-storage system at Seatrium’s Floating Living Lab. The 7.5-megawatt-hour system incorporated smart energy-management functions supported by AI and machine learning. The authority said the stacked design could occupy up to 40 per cent less space than a land-based energy-storage system.
In December 2022, SMRT began testing an AI-based system at Paya Lebar and MacPherson MRT stations to optimise air-conditioning according to factors including weather and passenger numbers. The Straits Times reported that the trial, conducted with Univers, targeted energy savings of 5 to 10 per cent at each station and was intended as a precursor to deployment at 70 underground stations.
SBS Transit and Univers later agreed to co-develop an "Energy and Operations AI Platform" for energy and asset management. According to reports, the platform uses AI and IoT technology for real-time analytics and forecasting intended to support operational and energy-efficiency decisions.
