Unaffiliated / Independent Voters in Howard County

Unaffiliated / Independent Voters in Howard County is a group of Maryland Independent voters who organized in June 2006 in order to boost candidacies of people who would represent citizen interests after gaining elected positions {Deford, Susan, Washington Post, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/16/AR2006081600714.html, retrieved on May 18, 2007}. This group is also sometimes known as Howard County Independents.

Founder Mona Eurice-Brinegar donated a website that was developed years prior which was slated to collect citizen opinions on varying issues in order to find solutions within the electorate, rather than depend on elected leaders to RESOLVE issues, hence the name Howard County Issues.

Current activities

This method of covering issues would serve to advance the goals of the group by representing the diverse positions within the Independent registrant population, while Providing a venue for creative solutions.

Howard County Independents number 35,000 as of December 2006, but the target audience for the Unaffiliated / Independent Voter newsletter and website is all voters in the county.
