Twipe
Twipe Digital Publishing is a Software company specializing in products for publishers, such as interactive mobile and web-apps for the electronic versions of newspapers. In 2017, it was announced that Agfa Grahpics was migrating its mobile publishing activities to Twipe.
Company History
Twipe was founded in 2011 by Danny Lein and is based in Leuven, Belgium.
Twipe's first clients were in Belgium, including the daily newspaper De Standaard, which was named 'App of the Year' by The Mobile Revolution for its newspaper app. De Standaard also launched a digital-only evening EDition with Twipe. In 2014, it was Twipe's NextGen publishing platform that was used for the creation of "De Media App", a publication looking at the Flemish media sector.
Twipe is active in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and the Nordic countries.
Twipe's weekly blog was named one of the 'top new media and publishing sites', by State of Digital Publishing, who wrote that their articles focus on "providing insights around membership subscriptions and content development for better-paid content strategies."
The name Twipe comes from a combination of touch and swipe.

Innovation
In 2016, Google announced part of its Digital News Fund would be allocated to the EngageReaders project submitted by Twipe and Mediahuis. EngageReaders was one of the 128 winners chosen in that funding round.
This joint project aimed to improve the daily production process of newspapers through the integration of scientifically-researched engagement insights. The research for this project was conducted in partnership with Mediahuis, imec, and two research groups at the KU Leuven in 2015.
As part of the project, a panel of 60 people were watched while reading digital editions, and had their pulse, skin conductance, body temperature, and eye movements tracked, which allowed for a predictive model to be built. The study found that a strong reaction in the body is provoked when reading a digital edition.
International Presence
In 2013, Twipe signed their first French customer, Ouest-France and created the first purely digital French newspaper, L’édition du Soir. In 2015, Twipe strengthened its leadership position in the French market with the launch of Le Télégramme's apps. Le Parisien relaunched their apps in 2016 with Twipe's replica publishing solution. 2017 saw the launch of a new breed of app from Twipe, with Centre France’s app using the new Web App Touch technology.
Twipe has also been active in the Dutch market, starting in 2014 with Holland Media Combinatie, one of the largest publishers of regional newspapers in the Netherlands.
In 2017, Twipe signed their first big partnership in Germany with the launch of new ePaper apps for DuMont's seven regional newspapers.
With the 2017 migration of Agfa Graphics clients to the Twipe platform, Twipe strengthened its position in the German, Swiss, and Austrian newspaper and magazine markets. The migration doubled Twipe's customer base in German-language markets.
