Tring TV
Tring Television is an Albanian digital satellite and terrestrial TV platform, a joint venture of Albanian Satellite Communications and Vizion Plus. The package was launched on the 1st of October 2008.
Tring consists of three major functions:
- Tring Telecommunications is the phone service offered in many cities in Albania as part of a phone package.
- Tring TV currently offers 22 Albanian and foreign TV channels in Albania and through Europe.
- Tring internet is the final service offered by Albanian Satellite communications Tring entity. The internet speed of this service ranges from 1 to 2 mb and offers unlimited downloads.
Domestic popularity
Having entered a market dominated by Digitalb, Tring struggled to gain recognition amongst Albanian viewers. To overcome this obstacle Tring broadcasts two of its channels free to air. In doing so it is able to maintain its viewers and promote the package to new audiences. In recent months Tring was able to increase its popularity by winning certain football rights over Digitalb's SuperSport package.

Upcoming/former channels
In its testing period Tring underwent a number of operations and changes. Initially the package started with three channels including Vizion Plus but quickly increased its number of channels to 15. Channels such as SuperSonic Tv, a leading music television channel owned by the recording studio of the same name, began broadcasting for a brief period on Tring. However, Digitalb, a competitor of Tring, threatened to remove SuperSonic TV from its package if it continued to broadcast on Tring TV. SuperSonic Tv disappeared from the Tring package shortly after, leaving space for Egnartia TV to take the slot.
During the testing period Tring conducted market research and discovered that customers desired a larger range of Albanian TV channels. In making this discovery Tring took steps to persuade the production team behind Folk+, a new Albanian folk tv channel, to transfer over to their package. Despite helping launch FOLK+ Digitalb did not own the company or trademark and was therefore unable to retain the station. Recently Mediasat, a popular Albanian TV channel was added to the Tring package to help increase its offerings of Albanian content. Despite a struggle to secure space on Eutelsat W2, Tring still plans to lure away customers from the competition by offering a larger amount of Albanian TV channels.
Technical information
Tring TV broadcasts in standard definition DVB-S compliant MPEG-2 in Albania and in all of Europe through Eutelsat W2 satellite on the frequency 11282/Hor/27500. The service is encrypted with Conax conditional access. Tring has recently acquired a new frequency on Eutelsat W2 which it will use to increase the number of Albanian tv channels. A full list of the upcoming channels has not yet been revealed but Tring promises to satisfy a wide range of tastes by providing a wide range of content on their package.
