The Things (band)

The Things are a garage rock band based in Dublin, Ireland

History

Started by friends Robbie Brady, Vinny Duggan, Jimmy Cullen and Neil Moore in 2002. The four members came together due to their mutual love of Garage Rock. Blending 60's garage rock, psych rock, rockabilly, punk and even prog to created a unique sound that has had there live shows described as explosive and raw. After a handful of shows the band recruited organist Ruairi Paxton. Over the next few years using the lo fi do it yourself method the band began to write, record and release their own material. The first of these recording appearing on 2005's "Psycho Sound EP" from Big Neck Records.

Since their formation The Things have released a handful of EPs and remained a strong force on the Irish underground rock scene as well as cementing a cult-like following throughout Europe and the US.

Over the years the band has played extensively throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe. Including some short tours of the US, with appearances and the CMJ, Popcomm, and South by South West Music marathons.

The beginning of 2008 saw the departure of drummer Jimmy Cullen, who has since been replaced by fellow Dubliner Andy Sutton.

In September 2008 The Things have secured a deals with Sweden's Nicotine Records and Italian label Tornado Ride Records. Both labels are set to release the debut album entitled Some kind of kick late 2008.
