The Heritage School, Kolkata

The Heritage School, Kolkata, West Bengal, India is a day-boarding school following the ICSE/ISC syllabii.It is an initiative of the Kalyan Bharti Trust. The school has kindergarten through class XII, and also has

  • Ankuran, the nursery section.
  • Suryakiran, an educational enterprise for underprivelaged children

The school is actively involved in both academic and extracurricular activities. The building has fully equipped scientific laboratories. ICSE and ISC board results have been outstanding. The school has taken part in numerous prestigious competitions, like the Frank Antony Memorial All India Interschool Debate, The Bournvita Quiz Contest, and numerous inter-school fests. The school has an active Interact club, and takes part in developmental schemes such as the Award Scheme for Young People. It has a two-tiered Prefect body, including an elected Students' Council (a forum of elected representatives from each section).

Houses

The school has four houses, namely:

  • Aryabhatt, blue, named after the ancient Indian mathematician;
  • Chanakya, green, named after Chandragupta Maurya's famous advisor;
  • Dronacharya, red, named after the guru of the Pandavas;
  • Patanjali, yellow, named after the father of yoga.

The houses compete each year for the sports trophy, academic excellence trophy, co-curricular achievement trophy and the [...]-house trophy.

Campus

The campus includes a football field, swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and a fully equipped gymnasium. The building also has a state-of-the art auditorium and an audio-visual room.

The school lays emphasis on the revival of Indian traditions. Yoga is compulsory up to class IX. The school song is

"Atma Deepo Bhava"
