The Casitas
Casitas are an alternative/pop band formed in Exeter, England at the end of 2006.
All 5 members were schoolfriends before their formation. They are Barney Bowles Bray (Lead Vocals & Keyboard), James Lapraik (Bass Guitar), Jack Knox (Rhythm Guitar), Felix Bush (Lead Guitar) and Ed Wilkinson (Drums & Percussion).
During the first 2 years, each member was still in full-time education and finding time for the band was difficult; this led to a staggered start in terms of gigs and recorded material.
Casitas first recorded work, which featured 9 songs, was undertaken at Coombeshead Studios, Devon, in a single day. This was to become their first 'self titled' album which they released during the summer of 2007. The album met with great success, forcing the band to return to the production company to request a reprint of the original album on a much larger scale.
Casitas next visit to the studio was far less swift. During the start of summer 2008, they returned to Coombeshead Studios to work with engineer Neil George on an extra 3 tracks which were to be added to their original first album. This time they laboured over the songs taking 2 days until they were completely satisfied. This extra care paid off, as these new 3 songs were possibly their most popular so far and included the hit, 'Lyyke Lii'.
After Casitas finished with their educational commitments, a constant gigging circuit started around the southwest. It was during this period that BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw selected the band to be House Band on Radio 1's Switch Show catapulting the band onto the national stage.
In Late August 2009, Casitas made their first official music video for 'Star Wars'. This was directed and edited by Annabel Allison who also manages Casitas. The concept of the video involves the members of the band piling into a restored Morris Minor with their INSTRUMENTS and trying to persuade 'Miss Star Wars' to join them on their latest adventure.
Casitas are currently recording their New album. Their new material will contain songs recorded at Deep Blue Studios, Mojo Studios and in Felix Bush's House all in Devon.
