The Blue and The Grey Band
The Blue and The Grey is an Americana/Bluegrass band originating in Richmond, VA. Formed in the summer of 2012 by Nick Baker (vocals, guitar), Juliane Codd (vocals, upright bass), and Aaron Walker (dobro, guitar, mandolin). In 2013, Matt McIver (drums) joined to replace Simone Secci. The bands first recording, "Our Great Escape" was critically acclaimed and well received by audiences. The band's first album, recorded at Montrose Recording, is set to release in late May, 2015.
History
Beginnings
The band met and was formed in July of 2012 when Nick Baker, Kyle Cortez, Aaron Walker, and Eddie Haskins met through jam sessions in the Richmond area. Juliane Codd, Aaron Walker's sister-in-law joined the band in August of the same year when she moved to Richmond. TBATG recorded a three song demo with Pedro Aida in October and filmed a music video to "Our Great Escape" in November. The single and video received critical acclaim and the band started a following.
Change of Line-Up
In the Fall of 2013 Matt McIver joined the band as drummer and Cello and Bajo were removed.
Recordings
In the Fall of 2014, TBATG recorded a full-length album with Montrose Recording. The album is poised to release in the Spring of 2015.
Television
TBATG has made television appearances including Virginia in the Morning on CBS.
