Telelogos
Telelogos is a software development company founded in 1982. Telelogos provides business infrastructure solutions for managing mobile or fixed devices (Mobile Device Management), data synchronization and Digital Signage (audiovisual communication).
History
1980: Founded by the Ardoisières d’Angers mining company André Billaud (doctorate in computer science – concentration in database systems) became the Information Systems Director of the Ardosières d’Angers mining company headquartered in Angers (in the Maine-et-Loire department of western France). At the request of the executive management of the company (3,000 employees), Billaud oversaw the computerization of a network of approximately thirty points of sale for the Larivière company, a subsidiary specializing in the distribution of professional building materials. He discovered the emerging field of micro-IT and decided to install an Altos multistation microcomputer running an MPM multitasking operating system developed by Digital Research (the developers of the CP/M system). A pioneer and innovator, Billaud himself developed the software that automated and secured data transfers using modems (1200 BPS) and public telephone networks. In doing so, he allowed for quasi-real time communications between the NCR mainframe at the company’s headquarters and all of the microcomputers installed at the points of sale. As of 1981, this network of points of sale throughout western France was equipped with features for application data synchronization (for delivery slips, inventory, prices, etc.), messaging and remote control. The network represented a breakthrough for its time and quickly drew interest from other companies. Seizing a burgeoning new market opportunity, Ardoisières d’Angers created the Telelogos S.A.R.L. subsidiary in January 1982. Yves Clisson, an engineer and graduate of France’s ESEO school of engineering, left the Cii-Honeywell Bull laboratory to join Telelogos as part of its first wave of hiring. 1989: Employee buy-out. In June of 1989, Telelogos employees bought-out their company at the same time that Imetal (now Imerys) took control of Ardoisières d’Angers. At that time, Telelogos was an IT company with six engineers specializing in the development of telecommunication software for UNIX and Microsoft MS-DOS systems.
1990: From 1990 to 1995, Telelogos enhanced its Telecom IT Services by becoming a resale partner for IBM’s RS/6000 system. The company participated in launching projects related to commercial mobility (sales force) and point of sale network computerization.
1995: Transition to software development.
In 1995, Telelogos decided to shift its business activities from IT services and hardware resale to software development. The first software product line, MediaTransfer, became commercially available in 1997, followed by MediaContact in 2002 and Media4Display, the latest product offering, in May of 2008.
