Tadamon!

Tadamon! (Arabic for “solidarity”), is a Montreal-based collective which works in solidarity with struggles for self-determination, equality and justice in the ‘Middle East’ and in diaspora communities in Montreal and beyond.

Tadamon! collective has worked extensively in Montreal in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and is currently focusing on the global boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign targeting the Israeli government.

Tadamon! organizes activities and campaigns in Montreal in coordination with activists the Middle East both in Israel and Palestine such as the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall and civil society organizations in Palestine.

Artists Against Apartheid

In Montreal Tadamon! coordinates the Artists Against Apartheid campaign that works to build solidarity for the Palestinian struggle for self-determination within cultural and artistic networks in Montreal. In February 2010 a open letter signed by 500 Montreal artists was launched, as reported in Le Devoir stemming from the ongoing Artists Against Apartheid concert series.

Bil'in Palestine

Bil'in is a Palestine village in the West Bank that organizes weekly protests against the Israeli West Bank barrier. In 2008 Bil'in launched a lawsuit against two Quebec-based companies allegedly constructing Israeli settlements on occupied territory in Palestine as reported by CBC.

Tadamon! has been publicly supporting the organizing efforts of Bil'in village in Canada, organizing street protests to express support towards the Palestinian village. In July 2009 Tadamon! coordinated a eleven city Canada-wide speaking tour Bil’in Tour: Israeli Apartheid on Trial featuring Mohammed Khatib from the Popular Committee Against the Wall in Bil'in and progressive Israeli lawyer Emily Schaeffer as reported in the Toronto Star.

Tadamon! foundation

Launched publicly in January 2006 at a cultural event at Montreal's celebrated concert hall La Sala Rossa, as reported in the alternative weekly newspaper Hour. Focused on building bridges between movements for social justice in Montreal and the Middle East, initially Tadamon! focused on linking with grassroots social activists, artists and intellectuals in Lebanon as the country faced the largest political crisis since the Lebanese Civil War after the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
