Something Sweet Artisan Cafe's
Something Sweet (Artisan Cafe's) is an independent dessert group based in the United Kingdom. The company produces American waffles, French crepes, Italian gelato and various bakery goods. The company was founded by three brothers in order to do something different during the credit boom.
History
The brand was founded in 2007. In a singular concept it was the first to set a trend in the Midlands to bring together the specific products of the company in one single marketed concept.
It was initially started off as a milkshake bar but then started supplyng cakes to the UK food service industry, after a while it started supplying gelato and other goods too. The company started supplying the UK service industry (restaurants and bars), including London, in 2011.
The first cafe was opened in Ladypool Road, then Bristol road and then finally at the 24 hour cafe in the city centre of Birmingham during 2013.
The company plans to open cafe's within London (summer 2014), Dubai (autumn 2014) and India.
Products
Something Sweet produces over 20 versions of gelato. Unlike ice cream, gelato’s density ingredients requires a slightly higher serving temperature, aiming for a point between firm and hard,and soft but not melting. The fruit variety is produced using around 35% whole fresh fruit without using artificial preservatives nor genetically modified ingredients.
The company sells to wholesalers, restaurants, grocery stores and ice cream parlours under various different sub brands.
Its drinks menu are loose leaf tea based alongside gourmet coffee. The tea is sourced from many farms in India from various regions. The coffee is from farms in Brazil and Ethiopia.
Name
The name Something Sweet was decided upon after extensive research and also asking friends and family. The name reflects the idea of the mental state a person feels when they would like a sweet food.
Awards
The business was named as one of the 5 best ice cream parlours in Birmingham as voted for by the Birmingham Mail alongside Ben & Jerrys, Morellis, Entices and Moo-Cha.
