Åsk Wäppling

Åsk Wäppling (born June 5, 1972) is a Swedish award winning Art Director, Illustrator and blogger best known as the founder of the community weblog Adland, where she is known as Dabitch. She graduated from Parsons The New School for Design in New York with degrees in both illustration and graphic design, and continued her studies at The School of Communication Arts in London. In the book "Advertising Design and typography" her style has been compared to Bob Gill (artist) .

In 1996 she launched her personal advertising obsessed website Adland which has now grown into an international advertising community news resource, or "the global watercooler for us adgrunts" . She tried to stay behind her nome de plume 'Dabitch' for as long as possible, as she published "many caustic comments about the business" she worked in but was outed by Tess Wilkinson-Ryan at Creativity Magazine (AdAge) in May 2001 . Adfreak has called her " the mother of all advertising blogs"

As a young girl she was on the Mickey Mouse show as a background Mouseketeer in 1977. She has acted in several commercials, radio spots and even modeled for a pan-european Canon campaign, and was the voice of the alien beings in the film "Odd Globular beings" 1996 She now does filmed interviews with advertising alumni on the Adland website as a regular feature.
