Shub Debgupta
Shub Debgupta is an entrepreneur, investor and researcher based in Washington, DC. He was born in Mumbai (Bombay), India and completed his schooling at the United World College of the Adriatic, Italy (International Baccalaureate, 1991). He has a BA (1994) in economics and mathematics from Clark University, and a MS (1996) and PhD (1999) in economics from Cornell University. His doctoral advisors were Gary S. Fields and Kaushik Basu.
He is the founder and current CEO of WiserTogether, Inc., a company aimed at developing technology and data-driven resources to help individuals make important decisions. Prior to WiserTogether, Debgupta was at the Corporate Executive Board where he ran the Benefits Roundtable â a group advising senior-most benefits executives at some of the largest organizations in the US. While at the Benefits Roundtable, Debgupta studied the factors that influenced individuals and their families when making health and benefits-related decisions.
His primary research has been on individual decision-making and on health , employment and benefits issues.
He currently lives with his wife, Garance Genicot, who is an Associate Professor of Economics at Georgetown University, and their young daughter in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC.
