Jared Giesbrecht

Jared Giesbrecht (born December 2, 1979) is a Canadian politician who currently resides in Victoria, British Columbia.

In early 2009, he was nominated by members of the Green Party of Canada in Victoria to run as their candidate in the next federal election.

Education

He completed a law degree at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) where he specialized in constitutional law and legal theory. During this time, he was a founder of the Young Greens of Canada as well as an executive in various human rights and environmental student organizations.

Jared is now completing a PhD in law at the University of Victoria with a focus upon intergovernmental relations and democratic theory. Serving as their Justice Critic, he has been developing policy and messaging for the Green Party of Canada since 2007.

Career

He currently volunteers with the legal committee for Harm Reduction Victoria and sits on the Board of Directors for Victoria's LifeCycles Project Society.

Jared lives in downtown Victoria but works seasonally as an Assistant Manager in his family-owned building supplies company in Fort St. John, British Columbia. He is also in the process of founding a management consulting firm for not-for-profit organizations called Network Action Consulting Ltd.
