The Sheffield School is a for-profit distance education school for creative professionals in a variety of areas. Currently the school offers courses in the areas of Interior Design, Feng Shui Interior Design, and Wedding and Event Planning. The school was founded in 1985 and is based in New York City.
History
The Sheffield School of Interior Design, as it was originally branded, was founded by Don Sheff in 1985 in order to deliver a home-study Interior Design course. This was the only course offered through the school until 2004.
In 2004, they added the Complete Course in Feng Shui Interior Design.
In 2008, they added the Complete Course in Wedding and Event Planning. The course was developed with the help of Xochitl Gonzalez, a prominent wedding planner in New York City.
The school is operated under the name Distance Education Co. and is associated with the New York Institute of Photography.
Accreditation
The Sheffield School is nationally accredited to provide distance education training by the Distance Education Training Council (DETC). In addition, since the school is based in New York, they are licensed by the New York State Department Of Education.
The Better Business Bureau gives the Sheffield School an A rating.
