Lexi Proud at the Pink Ribbon Ball

Lexi Proud (born 1973 in Hexham, Northumberland) is an English entrepreneur; dating expert and charity fundraiser. In 1994 Lexi started working as a flight attendant for Ambassador Airways (based in Newcastle upon Tyne and later in London). In 1996 she spent a year working for Air Europe (Italy) before joining British Airways in 1997. In 2001 she entered the world of private aviation working for Air Harrods, before taking a job with Philip Green and then Gama Aviation. In 2007 she took part in the BBC TV series Arrange Me a Marriage. As a result of her experiences on the TV Show she decided to develop her own web based dating concept called ArrangeMeADate.

Background

Lexi spent her early childhood in rural Northumberland where horses were her consuming early passion. Her entrepreneurial instincts were demonstrated at a very early age when at primary school she set up a penpal club to raise some extra pocket money.

Aviation Career

Lexi started her aviation career with charter airline Ambassador Airways at Newcastle International Airport, she relocated to London with the airline which then went into liquidation a month later. In 1996 Lexi took up a position with Air Europe (Italy), which was based in Milan before coming back to the UK in 1997 to commence employment with British Airways. Lexi left British Airways and joined Air Harrods owned by Mohammed Al Fayed based at Stansted airport in 2002 here she looked after his three helicopters and one private jet.

In 2003 Lexi was recruited to work on the new arrival of Philip and Tina Green’s, first private jet the Gulfstream 550, the first in Europe. Lexi was then headhunted by Gama Aviation and was made Director of Cabin Services in 2006. Lexi resigned from Gama Aviation in 2008.

Charity Work

In September 2005 Lexi took part in Expedition First Light, which was successful attempt by a 4 men and 1 woman team to travel from Stroud in Gloucestershire by bicycle in 6 days, sailing the channel themselves, climbing to the summit and fly from Mont Blanc, Western Europe's highest peak. The expedition was organised to raise funds to give sight back to children in Bangladesh through the charity Sightsavers International. The expedition raised over £17,000.

In 2008 Lexi was asked to join the Breast Cancer Campaign Pink Ribbon Ball committee, which holds an annual fund raising ball at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Lexi has been extremely involved in helping to raise over £300,000 that the balls have raised for the Charity in the last 2 years.

Arrange Me a Marriage

In 2007 Lexi took part in the first episode of the BBC TV Series Arrange Me a Marriage. Her potential matches were Nick Gauntlett and Ed Giddins. In the end she chose Nick and had a relationship with him for 1 year afterwards.

ArrangeMeADate

As a result of her experiences on the BBC TV Show Lexi created the concept of ArrangeMeADate, realises that although they were many online dating sites already in existence none really offered the personalised level of matchmaking that Lexi believes is really required to find the perfect partner.
