Shardul Vikram Gupta

Shri Shardul Vikram Gupta, son of Babu Satyendra Kumar Gupta and grandson of Rashtraratna Shiv Prasad Gupta, is an Indian businessman, who currently is the head of Jnanamandal Limited and Editor-in-chief of ‘Aaj’ Group of newspapers.

He did a bachelor’s course in journalism from the Banaras Hindu University in 1973, soon after he took over the management of Hindi Daily Aaj and equipped the newspaper with modern offset printing machine, computers, modem scanners etc. and established the publication as one of the reputed and widely circulated Hindi dailies of this country.

During 1975 to 1985 six editions of Aaj were launched from Kanpur, Patna, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Agra and Ranchi. In Bihar, first time Hindi Daily Aaj was printed on offset machine when all other newspapers of Bihar were printed on letter press. The year 1989 had been a landmark year for ‘Aaj’. The company launched four new editions from Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Lucknow and Barelly.

The ‘Aaj’ is now being published from 10 publication centre, seven from Uttar Pradesh one from Jharkhand (also printed from Dhanbad) and covers three states and publishes from three capital cities of India.

In addition to this he is currently involved in constructing a modern shopping mall at Varanasi.
