Design and construction

The resort was designed by DBA Akitek (M) Sdn Bhd, an architecture firm based in Kuala Lumpur. The construction for the project was awarded to SCRL Group Sdn Bhd, a development and construction company also based in Kuala Lumpur. The interior design works were led by Quintessential Elegance Enterprise.

The construction of the project began in February 2009, took three years to complete, and was handed over to the owner Seri Chenang Resort Langkawi Sdn Bhd in early 2013, almost a year behind schedule. Over 70 percent of the buildings were constructed using local hardwood timber to replicate the original architecture of a Malay house. The building structure was made using Chengal timber on concrete foundation. The roofing structure are made out of Borneo Ironwood shingles or Berlian, native to East Malaysia.
