Security 5

The 'EC-Council Security|5' is a professional certification provided by the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council).

The Security 5 is an entry level professional certification for individuals interested in learning computer networking and security basics. This certification program insures an individuals competency in basic security matters, such as the definitions and the safe implementation of Firewall's, ports, and Anti-virus software. The 5 in the Program name indicates the five components of IT Security, as defined by EC-Council:

  • Intrusion Detection (IDS)
  • Firewalls
  • Anti-virus
  • Networking
  • Web Security

The certification is currently in Version 1 as of December 2008

Certification coursework

Students are prepared for certification through the Security|5 coursework. The coursework consists of 9 modules.

Examination

Certification is achieved through the proctored administration of the Security|5 exam at an authorized Prometric Prime ATC (Accredited Training Center), and delivered through the Prime Shell. This certification is not available through traditional Prometric APTC.
