Rasyid Bancin

Muhammad Rasyid Bancin (born ) is an Indonesian politician from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) who served as mayor of Subulussalam for the 2025–2030 term. He has served since 15 February 2025 after being inaugurated by Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf, in the Session Hall of the Subulussalam City People's Representative Council.

In the 2024 Subulussalam Mayoral Election, he ran as the Mayor of Subulussalam for the 2025–2030 term, paired with Democratic Party politician, Nasir Kombih. This candidate pair succeeded in winning by winning 21,349 votes (37.80%) of the total valid votes.

Family and early life

Rasyid was born in Lipat Kajang village, Aceh Singkil, on 5 April 1986. He was born into a Pakpak family of religious and noble descent, his paternal grandfather, Harok Bancin, was a follower of the Naqshbandi order with the rank of khalifah awwal (first caliph), while his great-grandfather from his mother's side, Hidayo Bancin, was king in the Silatong Kingdom.

When he was a child, his family moved to Silatong village, Aceh Singkil, his mother's hometown. He then attended Silatong Elementary School, then continued his junior high school at Simpang Kanan Junior High School. He only attended junior high school for a year, then he continued his studies at two different Islamic boarding schools, namely the Baabussalam Batu Korong Islamic Boarding School and the Daarul Muta'allimin Islamic Boarding School.
