Pure3D

Pure3D is a file format and game engine created by Radical Entertainment.

Used on

Radical has used their Pure3D engine for almost all of their games starting from 1997. These include Independence Day, The Simpsons: Road Rage, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, and Prototype. The engine was updated as the years went on as other features were not added to the P3D format until Prototype.

Development

Not much is known AbOUT the development. It started sometime in 1995 according to old company journals and was a project to get Radical into the 3D video game world quicker.

Modifications and Hacking

On July 16, 2007, Lucas Cardellini released a video showcasing modifications he made using his program P3D Editor. Modifications have been made using the program such as texture mods, and even as far as object mods. Cardellini still updates his Pure3D editor, though it has only been released through Donut Team
