Princess Iniga of Thurn and Taxis

Princess Iniga Anna Margarete Wilhelmine Luise of Thurn and Taxis, full German name: Iniga Anna Margarete Wilhelmine Luise, Prinzessin von Thurn und Taxis (born 25 August 1925 at Schloss Niederaichbach in Niederaichbach, Bavaria, Germany; died 17 September 2008 in Aufhausen, Bavaria, Germany) was a member of the House of Thurn and Taxis and a Princess of Thurn and Taxis by birth and a member of the House of Württemberg and a Princess of Urach and Countess of Württemberg through her marriage to Prince Eberhard of Urach.

Family

Iniga was the second child and only daughter of Prince Ludwig Philipp of Thurn and Taxis and his wife Princess Elisabeth of Luxembourg.

Marriage and issue

Iniga married Prince Eberhard of Urach, eighth child and youngest son of Wilhelm, 2nd Duke of Urach and his wife Duchess Amalie in Bavaria, civilly on 18 May 1948 in Niederaichbach, Bavaria, Germany and religiously on 20 May 1948 in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. Iniga and Eberhard had five children:

  • Princess Amelie of Urach (born 6 April 1949)
  • Princess Elisabeth of Urach (born 10 December 1952)
  • Karl Anselm, Duke of Urach (born 5 February 1955)
  • Wilhelm Albert, Duke of Urach (born 9 August 1957)
  • Prince Inigo of Urach (born 12 April 1962)

After her father's death, Iniga inherited her father's estate Schloss Niederaichbach.

Death

Iniga died on 17 September 2008 at her home in Aufhausen. A requiem and funeral were held at the Wallfahrtskirche St. Maria Himmelfahrt in Aufkirchen am Starnberger See on 23 September 2008.
