Prasenjit Mallick
Prasenjit Mallick () (born 27 April, 1988) is an Indian singer whose songs have been featured in Bengali movies.
Biography
Prasenjit Mallick was born to a Bengali Hindu family in Kolkata, West Bengal. He is the only child of Pradip Kumar Mallick and Mitali Mallick. Prasenjit completed his school life in Mitra Institution (Main) in 2006 and graduated from Umeschandra College under Calcutta University in 2009. Prasenjit's ambition is to become a playback singer in the music industry. His favorite singer is Sonu Nigam. Prasenjit does 3â4 hours of "Riyaz" (practice) everyday. He also likes cricket and football matches.
Musical background
From his childhood he was involved with music. Initially he got the inspiration for music from his mother Mitali Mallick, who was also trained in classical music. At the age of six Prasenjit accompanied his mother on the harmonium. He began his singing career by doing various stage programmes and gave his first performance when he was 12 years old. In order to strengthen his musical skills, he learned classical music from his Guruji Pandit Shyamal Lahiri, son of Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri, who is a leading personality in Indian classical music. Prasenjit still continues his training in Hindustani classical music and popular music under Pandit Shyamal Lahiri's teaching.
Playback singing
Prasenjit began his career by singing ads and jingles (like MPS) and backing vocals. His first Tollywood break was with Music Director Dev Sen in the film "Mone Pore Ajo Sei Din", produced by Pankaj Agarwal, PB Films in 2011. Prasenjit sung 3 songs in the film.
In 2012, Shrikant Maheta, producer of "Shree Venkatesh Films", offered him the opportunity to be the voice of Surya, the lead male character of the film Awara that was portrayed by actor Jeet, one of the superstars of Tollywood industry. Prasenjit sung 2 songs (Mai Awara and Phoolkoli) in the film. Prasenjit Mallick was fortunate enough to playback for Jeet in only his second movie.1
In January 2013, Prasenjit sung for the movie "Deewana" which was produced by Reliance Entertainment. Prasenjit sung 3 songs (Nesha Nesha, Jege Achi, and Mahi Ve) in this film, again for the actor Jeet. Prasenjit got his greatest reward when Jeet himself praised him for his singing and lyrics for the movie "Awara" and "Deewana".
At present, he is also working with many projects along with many music directors. He is widely appreciated for his excellent voice quality and singing songs from heart. As a newcomer he has thus established himself as one of the leading playback singers in Tollywood.
Lyrics writing
Apart from being a singer, he is also a lyricist. he has penned down many lyrics of his songs spanning in many films. The songs are:-
- De signal and Mahi ve from "Deewana"
- The Title Track of Awara and Phoolkoli from "Awara"
- Golemale Gondogole from "Bawali Unlimited"
- Mera Mon Jane Mon and Mon sudhu Bole Keno from "Mone Pore Ajo Sei Din"
He was highly appreciated for the aforesaid by the audience and industry stalwarts.
