Band History
The concept of a band was born in June 2006 with Hard Rock And Heavy Metal as the direction . The band was named PIPERS with Joy and Anand as the lone members. They started looking for musicians to complete the line up. Leslie on bass was loaned from Spellbound for the time being. Shreyas of Cranium Shatter joined as the drummer along with his brother Sidharth on keys. After frantic jamming for two weeks they played their first gig at the July 2006 Sunday Jam, Banglore. The band also played their first original called "Stupid Cupid" written by Joy and Anand.
Soon after Sidharth quit the band due to MusicAL differences and the band decided to continue as four piece. Raj an independent music producer and sound engineer was brought on board to take care of live sound.A month later Shreyas quit the band. By then the second composition was ready called "Strange Kind Of Feeling".After a few calls ,Vivek was brought in to fill the Drummer's slot .This was to be the lineup for the next few months. The new lineup played their first gig in November in the St.John's Medical College Fest. The gig fetched the band some recognition and also the prizes for Best Drummer and Best Guitarist. The next few weeks, were busy with shows at Legends of Rock, Opus, Alliance Francaise De Pondicherry, Lucent Technologies and Sunday Jam held at Chitrakala Parishad. The band had progressed towards being a jam band and on stage improvisation had become a signature style of the band.
With the beginning of the new year, Pipers wrote new songs named "All AbOUT Money", "Pipe Dreams" and a lot of other unfinished Demo. The first gig of the new year was at Ravindra Kalakshetra and followed up with a gig at the Unwind Centre, Bangalore.
Joy decided to leave due to musical differences. Soon good friend Venki was recruited to help out on vocals till the search for a new vocalist was complete but soon it was apparent that the search had ended faster than expected with Venki joining full time. Within a week the band recorded their first demo "All about money" with Venki doing the vocals.
The band grew popular with the new lineup and was invited for gigs more regularly. The Band also were invited and performed at the south India's most reverenced Rock Festival, the June Rock Out. Pipers had moved from the underground pub band to a band playing in arenas considered huge in Bangalore. More own compositions were soon made. Pipers had a complete set to record their first demo Pipe Dreams.
Currently Pipers is working on new material and playing gigs regularly and also working towards recording a demo soon.
Music
Varying from the dark sounds of Black Sabbath to the bright sound of Whitesnake the band has explored it all. Though the band sees Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Led Zeppelin, Dio, Deep Purple as inspirational source they have carved out a different genre altogether called Blues Metal.
Known for the extended guitar and bass solos, the band can be named as the most popular Jam Band in and around South of India.
