Perimeter eSecurity
Perimeter eSecurity is a network security and security as a service company currently headquartered in Milford, Connecticut. Perimeter markets over 50 On Demand security services to businesses of all sizes, worldwide. Perimeter operates seven geographically distributed technical operations centers and three redundant datacenters.
History
In 1997, founder Andrew Greenawalt was working out of his basement in Fairfield, Connecticut when he was struck with an idea. Somewhere between the low ceiling and the concrete floor, Greenawalt imagined a company that would be the "technology mothership" for small businesses. The result was Cybergnostic.net, a company to focus on delivering world-class managed network and security services.
In 2001, Cybergnostic became the parent company of Perimeter Internetworking, a subsidiary focused on the financial industry. In 2004, the companies were aligned under the name Perimeter Internetworking. While still legally Perimeter Internetworking, Perimeter's brand is currently represented as Perimeter eSecurity.
In late July, 2007, Goldman Sachs became the lead investor in Perimeter when they invested $50 million in the company. As a follow-up to their initial investment Goldman Sachs provided equity financing along with Bessemer Ventures and the Stripes Group to push the total amount invested to over $100 million.
In August 23, 2007, Perimeter announced the acquisition of USA.NET out of Denver, CO, the leading provider of secure eMessaging services. Among other companies acquired by Perimeter eSecurity are (in order of most recent) Edgeos Inc., SECCAS, Message Secure, ANE Technologies, Breakwater Security Associates, Red Cliff Solutions, US Networks Inc., Guarded Networks, IRW Services, and Threat Management, LLC.
Currently the company services over 10,000 clients and employs nearly 400.
